Jasper County Schools

District Office News Article

The Jasper County Board of Education was transparent and desired to hear your thoughts on a proposed building project. On April 6, 2021 you as a County exercised your individual rights to answer that question and for that we thank you. The referendum question results stated the County does not support the district to utilize bonds for the proposed 15.7 million project at this time. We appreciate the Jasper County Residents exercising their rights to vote. We also appreciate the support you continue to provide the Jasper County School District daily. The board members and administration appreciate this community / County for all of the support you provide throughout the year. We are very Blessed to live in such an amazing community with residents that care about the future of our students. This is very evident when you attend many of our extracurricular activities (pre and post COVID-19), volunteer /donate time, money, or resources to our clubs and organizations (most of the time anonymously) , and continually reach out to our staff and praise them for successes they are accomplishing with our students. However, as residents please understand that the needs conveyed to you in all of the material provided by the district are still there and will need to be addressed soon. As we finish the 2020 - 2021 school year in the coming weeks, we will do our best to get folks together within the school district to begin the process on what next steps look like. But, I will also say, much of our emphasis from now until summer is going to be centered around our students and them completing what has been one Amazingly / Incredible year!!!!! We are very grateful to have been in session, in-person, every day this school year. Many schools unfortunately cannot say that, but we can and we were!!! Credit for that accomplishment itself goes to the students, parents, community, teachers, staff, administration and board members!! What we do know is that we will continue to seek options that are available for us to provide the safest and most comfortable environment we possibly can for our students to be educated. Please let myself, a board member or another administrator know if you have a great suggestion to help us find a way to accomplish what we were seeking in the proposed building project, in a more economical way? We will seek community input in the future, please watch for more information on this topic. I will finish by saying thank you one more time for being so supportive of the educational process at JCCU1. Superintendent, Andrew D. Johnson
